Body movement is more than physical exercise

First step of our WAY OF HEALTH Model ™

Reflecting the Universe, we – human beings – follow the same rule of dynamic adaptability, millions of atoms in constant movement, creating energy. Our body structure is made of muscles, articulations, tissues and cells that hold us together, gives us balance, flexibility, mobility and adaptability that is essential for quality movement. Designed to move, and movement being energy, the way we move affects how we feel throughout the day. Movement intelligence, being aware of what our body is doing, allows us to become conscious of sensory experience, which in return helps us to preserve our vital force, our energetic core. The circle is complete! But what does it mean in your daily routine?

  • Throwing yourself into the practice of a physical activity that may look attractive but not necessarily suitable for your natural constitution may alter your movement qualities overtime. Your body may create protective muscular tension and awkward articular friction that can cause pain and inflammation.

  • Exerting yourself into intense cardio activities when you have been under accumulated stress, will release the “feeling good” hormone, but may damage your health even further overtime, by putting your whole body under constant adrenaline surge.

  • Going back to a regular physical activity after a long period of sedentary lifestyle, requires a gentle approach during which you rebuild the lost sensory connections between your body in movement and your nervous system, the control panel of your body.

  • Developing strength and speed qualities is of course important, but you cannot ignore that coordination, adaptability, alignment and relaxation are qualities that may help you to sustain your physical activity with a limited risk of pain and injury.

  • Considering that breathing is a key part in the overall system of body movement; by oxygenating your blood you improve all your body functions, making your muscle more responsive; by developing CO2 tolerance you also improve your physical, mental and emotional resilience. Hence, the importance of outdoor activities to sustain your physiological performance.

Although connected body movement is important, the cycle of optimal health can’t be complete without the appropriate nourishment from both within and from our social and natural environment. We would lose vitality, strength and rootedness otherwise; like trees surrounding us, we would deplete our body functions and slowly retreat from life.

  • Step 2 - The key role of nourishment in long-lasting health and well-being

  • Step 3 - Self-reflection is a natural and pivotal tool for personal growth

  • Step 4 - Connecting with the outside world ignites the power of the inner flame

  • Step 5 - Resting time is crucial for body-mind-spirit restoration
